Israel-Hamas conflict: 200 trucks supply humanitarian aid for Gaza

Israel-Hamas conflict: Amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, 200 trucks carrying humanitarian aid, were dispatched toward Gaza through the Rafah Crossing. This supply is part of the four-day operational pause and hostage deal.

Food, water, and equipment supply to Gaza

The United Nations confirmed that 187 trucks had entered Gaza, till 7 PM (local time) while 200 trucks were dispatched from Nitzana.

The Israel Defence Force (IDF) posted on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), "200 trucks with humanitarian aid were sent to international aid organs. operating in Gaza through the Rafah Crossing as part of the operational pause, and within the framework for the release of the hostages agreed with the US, with the mediation of Qatar and Egypt. The humanitarian aid trucks carried food, water, equipment for shelters, and medical supplies." 

Hamas releases second group of Israeli hostages

Earlier in the day, 13 Israelis and 4 Thai nationals were released by Hamas on the second day of the ceasefire and hostage deal. This came hours after the Palestinian militant group accused Israel of violating the agreement. 

Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Earlier 1,29,000 litres of fuel also crossed into Gaza as per the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). On the other hand, 11 ambulances, three coaches, and a flatbed were delivered to Al Shifa Hospital which is to be assisted with evacuations. 

The OCHA welcoming the release of hostages said in an official statement, "And we hope the release of more Palestinian detainees brings relief to their families and loved ones." 

Earlier on Friday, the first group of 24 hostages was released and handed over to the staff of the International Committee for Red Cross.

Four-day truce between Israel and Hamas

Israel and Hamas agreed on a swipe deal which was brokered by The United States and Qatar. According to the deal, Hamas will release at least 50 hostages, while Israel is bound to release 150 Palestinian prisoners over the course of four days. If both sides aggress, the truce is expected to be extended further. It is to be noted that around 240 people were abducted by Hamas on October 7, during the brutal assault on Israel.
