Israel declares war as casuality rises over 500!

In response to an unprecedented and “surprise” attack by Hamas, a Palestinian Islamist militant group, against Israel, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have begun Operation “Iron Swords.” On Saturday, the Gaza Strip‘s governing Hamas started a multi-pronged assault on Israel by firing approximately 5,000 missiles.

During the incident, hundreds of Hamas militants sneaked into Israeli land via paragliders and the separation fence and opened fire on the residents, leaving 22 people dead and several others injured. The number of fatalities from the strike by the Palestinian militant group is sure to increase.

PM issues statement

The attacks by Hamas against Israel are the bloodiest in many years and pose a threat of expanding the conflict. Israel will undertake a protracted military battle against the extremist group, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced, and he expressed confidence that Israel would prevail. “Rock solid” US backing for Israel, according to President Joe Biden

Due to Netanyahu’s alliance with Israel’s far-right and their efforts to reform the country’s court, the disagreement arose during a sensitive diplomatic period as well as a time of historic division inside Israel. In recent days, the Israeli shekel has declined near a seven-year low ahead of the upcoming reopening of the Israeli Knesset later this month.

This morning, on Shabbat and a holiday, Hamas invaded Israeli territory and murdered innocent citizens including children and the elderly. Hamas has started a brutal and evil war.

PM Benjamin Netanyahu vowed retaliation and declared a “state of war”. Netanyahu has also noted that Hamas has made a “grave” mistake by attacking Israel. “Citizens of Israel, we are at war. The enemy will pay an unprecedented price. We will win this war,” PM Netanyahu said.

Iron Swords at the rescue

In massive retaliation, the defense forces of Israel have started to strike the Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. The counteroffensive has been named Operation ‘Iron Swords’. “In response to the barrages of rockets launched by Hamas from Gaza at Israel, the IDF is currently striking Hamas targets in Gaza,” the Israel Defense Forces said.
