New Delhi: Hamas' armed wing, al-Qassam Brigades, announced on Sunday that it had launched a significant missile attack on Tel Aviv. This declaration was made on their Telegram channel, where they stated that the rockets were fired in retaliation for what they termed "Zionist massacres against civilians."

Rocket attack and Tel Aviv's response

As the Israeli military sounded sirens throughout Tel Aviv, alerting residents to potential incoming rockets, Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV confirmed that the missiles were launched from the Gaza Strip. This marks the first instance in four months that rocket sirens were activated in Tel Aviv. The Israeli military did not immediately specify the cause of the sirens.

A social media user shared media related to the strikes made by Hamas in Tel Aviv. The user wrote, " It seems that Hamas got new toys against which the "iron dome" is powerless They launched about 10-12 long-range rockets, from Rafah, traveling 100-110km to hit Tel Aviv, after a hiatus of 4 months. The Iron dome failed to intercept the rockets, more than 8 direct impacts were made, causing material damage and the ignition of fire. This is probably the first warning to Israel that if it continues to target and massacre children, it will be returned in kind."

No reported casualties

Israeli emergency medical services have reported no casualties resulting from the attack. The missile launch demonstrates that despite over seven months of relentless Israeli military offensives from both air and ground, Hamas retains the capability to fire long-range rockets.
