Iranian consulate in Paris cordoned off over suspicion of explosives

On X, formerly known as Twitter, the Parisian transportation company RATP announced the suspension of traffic on two metro lines that pass through stations in close proximity to the consulate.

On Friday, French police took control of the Iranian consulate in Paris and prepared for entry at the consulate's request following a report of an individual entering with an explosive device, according to a security source.

The source stated, "A witness saw a man enter carrying a grenade or an explosive belt," noting that an elite police unit was deployed after the consulate sought intervention.

A journalist from AFP reported that the entire neighbourhood surrounding the consulate in Paris's 16th district was cordoned off, with a substantial police presence in the area. Additionally, Paris's transport company RATP announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that traffic had been halted on two metro lines that pass through stations near the consulate.
