Amid heightened tensions, US intelligence reports suggest Iran may launch a strike on Israeli soil within the next 24 to 48 hours. The potential retaliation stems from an April 1 airstrike on an Iranian consulate in Damascus, allegedly carried out by Israel, resulting in the deaths of several Iranian Revolutionary Guard commanders.

A US official, cited by the Wall Street Journal, disclosed the imminent threat, indicating that Iran could target southern or northern Israel. However, uncertainty looms as a person briefed by Iranian leadership claims Tehran has yet to finalize its decision on the strike.
Reports reveal that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) presented strike options to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei earlier in the week. Among these options was a direct attack on Israel using sophisticated medium-range missiles, as suggested by an IRGC advisor.
The Israeli military is on high alert, anticipating a potential strike, while international actors, including France, Germany, the UK, and Russia, urge Iran to exercise restraint. Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) head, Gen. Michael Kurilla, arrived in Israel to assess security challenges alongside IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi.
Israel remains vigilant, with the IDF declaring full readiness for any incoming strike. Israeli and US officials collaborate closely, with preparations underway to counter potential threats from Iran or its proxies. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant discussed the situation with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, affirming US support for Israel's defense.
While preparations for a possible attack are underway, Israeli civilians are urged to adhere to existing Home Front Command guidelines and remain vigilant. Municipalities across Israel are instructed to ensure public shelters are prepared, emphasizing the importance of readiness without causing panic among citizens.
In view of the prevailing situation in Iran and Israel, the Government of India (GOI) stated on its website that all Indians must not travel to Iran or Israel till further notice.
Furthermore, it added that people who are there already in Iran or Israel should make contact with Indian Embassies and register themselves.
Other nations join in urging restraint, emphasizing the need for dialogue and de-escalation. Iran's perspective conveyed through its mission to the United Nations, highlights concerns over the lack of condemnation for the embassy strike in Damascus and the pursuit of justice for the perpetrators.
