Former President Donald Trump is projected to win the Iowa caucus, according to CNN, consolidating his position as the front-runner for the 2024 Republican nomination to turn up against incumbent Joe Biden in a 2020 rematch.

Trump's success in his first election since his unprecedented withdrawal in 2020 has also placed to rest any lingering worries about his hold over the GOP and the effectiveness of his right-wing ideology.

About 4% of the results, as reported by CNN, have been made public thus far, and it is anticipated that 16 of Iowa's 40 delegates will go to Trump.

Thus far, estimates see former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley and Florida governor Ron DeSantis receiving four delegates apiece. Sixteen delegates remain unassigned.

Now, the race will centre on New Hampshire, which on January 23 will host the first-ever Republican primary in American history.

Ahead of the race next week, the outcome has increased pressure on his two Republican opponents, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.

Haley, however, will be trying to win over a primary electorate that is more ideologically varied. Despite the fact that Trump still has a sizable lead in the Granite State, she has been gaining ground there and the state may act as a cushion following her defeat in Iowa, according to The Hill.

Meanwhile, in contrast to a traditional election, it is anticipated that Iowa's caucus calls for voters to physically assemble in small groups. Following speeches by campaign officials, they will secretly cast ballots. Several hours after the caucuses begin, results are anticipated.

Bitter cold that could endanger lives could persuade some voters to stay indoors. In certain areas of the state, the wind chill could drop as low as minus 45 degrees Fahrenheit, or minus 43 degrees Celsius, according to the National Weather’s prediction.
