Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Indonesia in the early hours of Thursday (September 7) to attend the 18th East Asia Summit and 20th ASEAN-Indian Summit. At the Summit, Modi will be discussing the future contours of the partnership of India with the countries, which are located in the strategically important region.
After attending the ASEAN Summit in his one-day trip, the Indian Prime Minister will return to Delhi, where India is hosting the G20 Summit on September 9 and 10.
Upon his landing, PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Jakarta International Airport and was received by I. Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati, Minister for Women Empowerment and Child. Protection.
The External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi shared a video on the social media handle ‘X’ (Twitter), which showed Modi’s arrival at Jakarta Airport. “Good morning. We have just arrived here at Jakarta International Airport. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is about to depart from the plane. He’s been given a warm ceremonial welcome here at Jakarta Airport,” Bagchi said in the video.
He further highlighted Modi’s tight schedule for the Summit in the video and said that he looks forward to having a productive day in Jakarta.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also posted on his X handle about his landing in Jakarta. He wrote “Landed in Jakarta. Looking forward to the ASEAN-related meetings and to working with various leaders for making a better planet.”

Modi’s arrival at Jakarta was welcomed by the Indian community who had gathered at the Ritz Carlton Hotel with much excitement.
The Indian diaspora, displaying their fervor, waved the Tricolour and cheered with slogans such as “Modi Modi,” “Vande Mataram,” “Humara Neta Kaisa Ho, Narendra Modiji Jaisa Ho…” (What kind of leader should we have? should be like Modiji), and “Har Har Modi, Har Ghar Modi.”
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrived at the hotel Ritz-Carlton in Jakarta where he also met the Indian diaspora.

Ahead of his departure to Indonesia, PM Modi said that the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the ASEAN has injected new dynamism into the group’s ties with New Delhi.
“Engagement with ASEAN is an important pillar of India’s ‘Act East’ policy,” PM Modi said in his departure statement.
“I look forward to discussing with ASEAN leaders the future contours of our partnership, which has now entered its fourth decade. Engagement with ASEAN is an important pillar of India’s ‘Act East’ policy. The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership entered into last year has injected new dynamism in our ties,” he said
“After that, I will be attending the 18th East Asia Summit. This forum provides a useful opportunity to deliberate on issues of importance to the region including food and energy security, environment, health, and digital transformation. I look forward to exchanging views with other EAS Leaders on practical cooperation measures to collectively address these global challenges,” the prime minister added.
