In the recent development, Iran has announced a visa-waiver program for Indians tourists visiting the country. The visa-free entry has come into effect for Indian citizens from February 4. But here are some conditions that will be applicable, as per the Iranian embassy.
Indian tourists can now visit Iran for a maximum of 15 days without a visa. With this, Iran has become the latest country in the past which has announced visa-free entry to Indians. Before Iran, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Thailand have also eased visa rules for the tourists from India.
Here are the conditions that will be appliable to avail the benefit:
Frequency and Duration: You can enter Iran visa-free once every six months, with a maximum stay of 15 days. This stay cannot be extended.
Tourism Purposes Only: This visa exemption is exclusively for tourism. If you're traveling for business, education, or other reasons, you'll still need a visa.
Ordinary Passport Required: You must hold an ordinary Indian passport to be eligible. Diplomatic or official passports require visas.
Air Border Entry: This visa-free policy only applies to those entering Iran by air. Land border entries require visas regardless of purpose.
