A 26-year-old Indian citizen was murdered on Friday night at Rockland, a suburb on the outskirts of Ottawa, Canada. The Canadian Embassy confirmed reports that an arrest has been made in relation to the murder. The embassy has sent genuine condolences regarding the senseless killing and has made the effort to stay in contact with the local authorities in order to provide maximum cooperation to the bereaved family.
The stabbing took place close to Lalonde Street at 3 pm Friday (local time) some 40 kilometers east of central Ottawa. There has been a warning issued by the Ontario Provincial Police requesting residents to anticipate an increased police presence in the region.
Details regarding the attack are slowly coming to light, but nothing is known as yet about the motive for the stabbing or if charges were laid against the alleged attacker.
The Indian Embassy in Canada has now taken recourse to social media to convey sympathies and provide assurance of assistance to the relatives"We are horrified by the unfortunate death of an Indian citizen in Rockland, Ottawa as a result of stabbing. The police also reported that one of the accused has been apprehended. We are in touch with the bereaved families through a local welfare association to provide all types of help to them," the embassy tweeted on X.
