The Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Vikram Doraiswami, was on Friday denied from entering a Gurudwara in Scotland. According to the sources, Doraiswami was stopped by a group of British Sikh activists, who told him that he is “not welcomed.”The incident has been reported from Scotland, amid a political rift between India and Canada over the killing of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The video of stopping the Indian convoy has surfaced on social media, which shows some British Sikhs denying him the entry in Gurudwara. As per sources, the Indian High Commissioner was invited by the Gurudwara Committee but soon after Khalistani activists learnt about it and reached Glasgow Gurudwara and denied him the entry. In the video, they can be seen opening the door of the car of the Indian High Commissioner. He immediately locked the car and left. However, a formal reaction from the Indian High Commission in London and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on the incident is awaited.Meanwhile, while addressing the press conference at Washington DC, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that India does not require lessons from others on the concept of freedom of speech, he made a sharp attack on Canada and said that freedom of expression should not extend to incitement of violence.“…I flagged here (in US), and I flagged this to the Canadians as well. We are a democracy. We dont need to learn from other people what freedom of speech is about, but we can tell people this…we dont think freedom of speech extends to incitement to violence. That to us, is the misuse of freedom, thats not defence of freedom,” Jaishankar said.
