India has dispatched 31 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Myanmar in response to the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the country last week. The aid, sent via a C-17 Globemaster heavy-lift aircraft, includes replenishment stores for an Indian army field hospital unit deployed in Myanmar.
India's relief mission, dubbed "Operation Brahma," aims to provide succor to the quake-hit neighboring country. The operation involves the deployment of an Indian Army field hospital unit in Mandalay, comprising 118 personnel, including women and child care services. Two C-17 heavy-lift aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) were used to transport the unit and relief materials.
The humanitarian aid sent by India includes:
- Replenishment stores: For the Indian army field hospital unit deployed in Myanmar
- Relief materials: 60 tonnes of aid, including essential supplies, were sent in two C-17 aircraft
The earthquake has resulted in over 3,000 casualties, with rescuers continuing to search for signs of life amidst the rubble. India's aid efforts aim to support Myanmar's relief and rescue work, alongside the local government and agencies
