New Delhi: India is poised to extend its technological prowess and knowledge reservoirs to uplift the Global South, affirmed Ajay Seth, Secretary at the Department of Economic Affairs.

This commitment was reiterated during India's representation at the Finance Ministers' Session of the 2nd Voice Of Global South Summit.

Inclusive Decision-Making for Global Priorities

Highlighting Prime Minister Modi's stance, Seth emphasised that India's G20 priorities would be crafted in consultation not just with G20 partners but also with Global South collaborators, whose voices often remain unheard despite constituting the largest group of nations.

G20 Expansion and Global South Inclusion

During India's G20 presidency, the African Union, a substantial part of the Global South, gained G20 membership, providing a vital platform for Global South representation in global decisions. Seth acknowledged the significance of this development, stating, "With your continued support, we have amplified our voice, the Voice of the Global South."

Multilateral Development Banks Strengthening

Under India's G20 presidency, Seth highlighted India's strong advocacy for fortifying Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) to address 21st-century global challenges. This involves securing continued and sustainable access to low-cost concessional finance for low and middle-income countries.

Sustainable Finance and Global Collaboration

Addressing the financing gap, Seth stressed that the Global South couldn't afford a development gap. The Indian G20 Presidency actively worked towards scaling up sustainable finance.
