The Global Times article, from a key Chinese media outlet, acknowledged India's economic momentum, improved urban governance, and evolving international relations - notably with China.

"India has gained great economic achievements and improved social governance. Its economy is becoming one of the world's fastest-growing," Zhang wrote.

What India emphasises according to Global Times?

He noted India now emphasises its export potential in trade discussions, whereas it previously focused more on China reducing imbalances.

"Politically and culturally, India has shifted from stressing democratic ties with the West to highlighting unique 'Indian' democratic traits - with even more emphasis on India's democratic origins," the article said.

Zhang asserted India aims to move past its colonial history and position itself as a global political and cultural mentor.

The piece also praised India's multi-alignment strategy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing strengthened ties with the US, Japan and Russia alongside a nuanced stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Who is responsible for making India effective?

"Since assuming power, Modi has promoted relations with the US, Japan, Russia and others - advocating a multi-alignment strategy," Zhang wrote.

He described the rapid shift from multi-balancing to multi-alignment and India's ambitions to become a global pole as "rarely seen" changes.

Zhang acknowledged India as a major global power, adding, "A transformed, stronger and more assertive India has become a new geopolitical factor."

The prominent Chinese outlet's commentary indicates growing recognition of India's increasing strategic influence. While tensions remain between the Asian giants, the pragmatic analysis reflects India's determination to chart its independent course.

With revitalised economic growth, strengthening diplomatic ties worldwide and initiatives like Make in India, the subcontinent is positioning itself as a vital Indo-Pacific player. While challenges persist, India continues steadily building its global stature.
