India Pakistan: In a diplomatic exchange, India and Pakistan have shared lists of nuclear installations and facilities, as outlined in the 1988 Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations and Facilities.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) officially announced the exchange through diplomatic channels in New Delhi and Islamabad.

Historical Agreement in Force

The agreement, signed on December 31, 1988, and implemented on January 27, 1991, mandates that both nations communicate the nuclear installations and facilities covered by the agreement every January 1. This marks the 33rd consecutive exchange since the first took place on January 1, 1992.

Amidst Strained Relations

The exchange of lists occurs against the backdrop of ongoing tensions between the two countries, with issues such as Kashmir and cross-border terrorism contributing to the strained relations. This annual diplomatic exercise aims to maintain transparency and adherence to the agreements between India and Pakistan regarding nuclear activities.
