India-Canada row over the killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar has been escalating day-by-day. Now, Canada has updated its travel advisory for its citizens in India asking them to stay ‘vigilant and exercise caution’ in the context of recent developments, as there are ‘calls for protests’ and some ‘negative sentiment’ towards Canada on social media.

Notably, the diplomatic rift between both nations following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s explosive allegations of the potential involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Nijjar on his country’s soil in Surrey on June 18 this year. India had designated the Khalistani extremist as a terrorist in 2020.

On Sunday, the Canadian government said in an update, “In the context of recent developments in Canada and India, there are calls for protests and some negative sentiment towards Canada on social media. Please remain vigilant and exercise caution.”
