Amid high-tension political rift between India and Canada, taking a strong step, India has asked Canada to withdraw its dozens of diplomatic staff. However, there is no official statement on this so far.

The move from the Indian government has come after Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that India was involved in the fatal killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

However, India has outrightly rejected the claims, calling it ‘absurd’ and ‘motivated’. Notably, Canada has yet to provide any public evidence to support the claim about the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar so far.

It is to be noted here that Canada has almost 62 diplomats in India and India has asked them to make it to roughly 40 by October 10, sources claim. However, there is no official statement on this so far.

US is in close coordination with Canada on Nijjar’s killing

Meanwhile, United States is in the close coordination with Canada on the political row. The statement from the US spokesperson came while responding to a question related to Nijjar’s killing in Canada on Monday during a press briefing.

“We remain in close coordination with our Canadian colleagues on this question,” US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said.

Before this, Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Vikram Doraiswami was on Friday prevented from entering a gurdwara in Glasgow, Scotland.

In the viral video that got surfaced on Instagram, a man reportedly a pro-Khalistani activist was seen blocking Doraiswami from entering the Glasgow Gurdwara on Albert Drive.
