New Delhi: A gruesome double homicide occurred in California's San Juan Capistrano on July 9, resulting in the deaths of 79-year-old Antoinette and 77-year-old Ronald. Their son, Joseph Brandon Gerdvil, 41, has been charged with two counts of homicide. According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, Gerdvil sent graphic images of his parents' mutilated bodies to his cousin, who promptly alerted the authorities.
Upon arriving at the crime scene, police found the elderly couple's bodies, along with their chihuahua, inside their mobile home. One of the victim's heads had been placed on a counter. Gerdvil was later discovered driving a golf cart on a bike path, where he threw a shovel at a police vehicle. After cornering him, officers ordered him to drop a metal water meter, but he charged toward them, leading one officer to fire five shots.

As officers handcuffed Gerdvil, he expressed remorse and requested to be killed, saying, "I love you," "I'm sorry you're going to have to die," and "Just finish me off... Put one in my head, please. I beg of you." He then began singing love songs, including Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do with It" and Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You," as police treated his wounds.
Gerdvil was hospitalized in serious but stable condition and booked on two counts of homicide. If convicted, he faces life imprisonment without parole. The motive behind the heinous crime remains unclear.
