Rise in attacks on minorities

Since the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5, following widespread protests, members of minority communities in Bangladesh have faced a surge in violence. Hindu organizations, including the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council and the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, have reported at least 205 attacks across 52 districts. These incidents have intensified since the interim government, led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, assumed control.

Interim government's response

In response to the escalating violence, Interim Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus has urged Bangladesh's youth to play a pivotal role in securing the nation's future. Meanwhile, India has expressed deep concern over the safety of minorities in Bangladesh. The Indian central government has established a high-level committee led by the ADG BSF Eastern Command to oversee the situation at the India-Bangladesh border. Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that this committee will closely monitor and consult with higher authorities to ensure the safety of Indians and minorities in Bangladesh.
