Shots fired in the early hours of Thursday morning in Surrey, British Columbia, targeting the residence of Simranjeet Singh, an associate of slain pro-Khalistan figure Hardeep Singh Nijjar. This latest incident adds to the growing unease in the region, which has seen a surge in gang-related violence in recent months.

Media reports identified Singh as the owner of the residence, which sustained multiple bullet holes along with a car parked outside. The Surrey detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed the shooting and stated that "frontline officers attended the scene and located evidence consistent with a shooting."

However, it is crucial to note that Surrey and nearby towns have witnessed a concerning rise in gang-related violence, including drive-by shootings. As recently as December 27th, the residence of Satish Kumar, son of the president of the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, was targeted in a similar attack.

Investigators currently believe this incident to be isolated but are actively pursuing the motive behind the shooting. Whether this incident is linked to gang violence or politically motivated remains to be seen.

As the investigation unfolds, the community grapples with concerns about rising gun violence and the potential involvement of external actors.
