Fawad Chaudhry, the former Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the erstwhile Imran Khan government, lauded the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the success of its Chandrayaan-3 mission, which soft-landed on the lunar surface on Wednesday.

Taking to the social media platform X, Chaudhry wrote, “What a great moment for #ISRO as #Chandrayaan3 lands on the Moon, I can see lots of young scientists celebrating this moment with Mr Somnat (sic) Chairman ISRO, only Younger generation with dreams can change the world … good luck.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Fawad Chaudhry had lauded the lunar mission as a ‘great day’ for the Indian scientific community and called it a ‘historic moment for humankind’.

Taking to X, Chaudhry wrote, “All eyes on #Chandryaan3 Moon landing 5:40 PM, great day for Indian Science Community and Space scientists, Congratulations to people of India on this great achievement.”

He also suggested that the Pakistani media should show the live telecast of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, writing, “Pak media should show #Chandrayan moon landing live tomorrow at 6:15 PM… historic moment for Human kind specially for the people, scientists and Space community of India…. Many Congratulations.”

Fawad Chaudhry mocked ISRO after Chandrayaan-2 failure

Fawad Chaudhry hit the headlines back in 2019 when the then-Minister mocked the ISRO for the failure of the Chandrayaan-2 mission, which lost contact moments before its landing.

“Jo kaam ata nai panga nai leitay na (What you don’t know, don’t attempt),” he had written back in September 2019, using the word ‘Endia’ in his post.

After facing backlash from the Indian netizens, he doubled down, writing, “Surprised on Indian trolls reaction. They are abusing me as if I was the one who failed their moon mission. I had already said that don’t invest 900 crores on these losers. Now, be patient and try to sleep.”

“Endia only way you can reach the moon is through Bollywood. Another 100 crore and you guys will be on the moon. On a serious note, extremists always fail and you failed when instead of scientists you relied on astrologers and delayed the mission,” he continued in another post.

The Minister was also trolled for one of his television interviews in which he said, “Our science and research team has a philosophy. We don’t need to do so much work. The moon is visible. We know its exact location. What would be its altitude in which territory is also known.”
