The Gallup Global Workplace report 2024 reveals a concerning trend that almost 86% of Indian employees are either “struggling” or “suffering.” According to one of the recent reports, only 14% of the employees are “thriving” in life. This statistic highlights significant issues related to employee well-being in India. The report measures well-being based on factors such as workplace environment, job satisfaction, mental health, and overall life quality.

The report has been revealed after conducting a survey based on its Life Evaluation Index Gallup based on three categories of well-being: Thriving, struggling or suffering.

According to the press release, the percentage of engaged employees globally those who feel involved in and enthusiastic about their work remains at 23%, matching the record high recorded in 2022, according to Gallup’s State of the Global Workplace report. But most employees are not engaged (62%), those who show up, do the bare minimum and are uninspired by their work or actively disengaged (15%), and those who have a bad manager and a miserable job and are actively seeking a new one.

The study also focused on everyday emotional experiences; the biggest percentage of respondents from India, 35% said they experienced anger regularly. With only 32% of respondents experiencing stress, India has the lowest daily stress level in the area, according to the data, compared to 62% in Sri Lanka and 59% in Afghanistan.

Nonetheless, India's 32% employee engagement percentage remained strong, significantly more than the 23% average for the world.

Overall, more than one-third of people global workers are “thriving” in life.
