During the G7 Summit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron held a bilateral meeting to discuss a range of strategic and economic issues. The discussions likely focused on enhancing cooperation in areas such as defence, energy, trade, and technology. Both leaders emphasized the importance of their countries' partnership and explored ways to further strengthen their bilateral ties.

In addition to this, both nations agreed to bolster strategic defence cooperation, with a heightened emphasis on promoting India's 'Make in India' initiative.

The two leaders were seen sharing hugs as they met at G7.

Taking it to the official X handle, the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs shared that the two leaders discussed the ways to strengthen the partnerships in several areas, including defence, nuclear, space and climate action.

India and France have a long-standing strategic partnership, with collaborations in various sectors including defence, where France has been a key supplier of military equipment to India. Additionally, the two countries have strong cooperation in the fields of nuclear energy, space technology, and climate change initiatives.

This meeting underscores the significance of India-France relations in the context of global geopolitics and economic development. The G7 Summit, attended by leaders from the world's largest advanced economies, provides a platform for such bilateral engagements, allowing countries to address global challenges and strengthen international alliances.

PM Modi concludes the G7 visit

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi has concluded his visit to Italy to attend the 50th Summit of the Group of Seven (G7). He arrived in Italy's Apulia late Thursday night (local time) to attend the Summit, where India was invited as an outreach country.

Following his bilateral meeting with the French President, he will also hold bilateral meetings with other world leaders, including Rishi Sunak and the G7 Presidency's leader, Giorgia Meloni.

Taking it to his X handle, PM Modi thanked Italy Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for inviting India to be a part of the G7 Summit. Both the leaders discussed ways to further cement India-Italy relations in areas like commerce, energy, defence, telecom and more.
