Prime Minister and Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al has arrived in New Delhi to attend the G20 Summit, which is all set to be held under India’s Presidency on September 9-10.

According to the information, Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ashwini Kumar Choubey welcomed Oman Prime Minister at the airport.

India and Oman share the diplomatic relations since 1955. And the relationship was upgraded to strategic partnership in 2008. In the mark of special relationship, India has extended the invitation to the Sultan of Oman.

Notably, Oman is a strategic partner of India and an important interlocutor at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Arab League, and Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) fora. India and Oman are linked by geography, history, and culture and enjoy warm and cordial relations.

Russian Foreign minister arrived in place of President Vladimir Putin for G20

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov who in place of Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi to attend the G20 Summit scheduled to be held on September 9-10. According to the sources, the Russian Foreign Minister will be attending the summit on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Sources also claims that Russian President Vladamir Putin recently had a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during which the two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual concern.

During the talks, President Putin conveyed his inability to attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi and informed that Russia would be represented by the country’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, a PMO release said.

PM Modi also thanked President Putin for consistent support to all initiatives under India’s G20 Presidency.
