Many bilateral talks that were expected between India and US during G20 Summit have been getting finalised. According to sources, India and US on Friday announced that both the countries have started talks to put in place a strategic framework for human space flight by end of this year as they plan to send an Indian astronaut to the International Space Station in 2024.

During their meeting, US President Joe Biden also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the historic and successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 at the south polar region of the Moon and the success of Aditya-L1 solar mission.

According to the joint statement issued by both the leaders after the talks, said, “Determined to deepen our partnership in outer space exploration, ISRO and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have commenced discussions on modalities, capacity building, and training for mounting a joint effort to the International Space Station in 2024, and are continuing efforts to finalise a strategic framework for human space flight cooperation by the end of 2023.”

During the meeting, India and the US also settled the seventh and last outstanding World Trade Organisation (WTO) dispute.

The meeting concluded with a message that India-US relations and said that the friendship between the two nations will continue to play a great role in furthering global good.
