Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been named "Antisemite of the Week" by Jewish advocacy group StopAntisemitism following her recent arrest at an anti-Israel demonstration. The watchdog group, which monitors anti-Semitic activities, criticised Thunberg for aligning herself with protesters who oppose Israel, accusing her of using her platform to spread anti-Semitic rhetoric, as reported by the New York Post.

Thunberg's shift in activism

In a statement, StopAntisemitism expressed disappointment in Thunberg’s activism, claiming that she has shifted her focus from climate change to spreading "vile Jew-hatred." "She has sadly transformed her activism into a platform for vile Jew- hate," the organisation stated, underscoring its concerns over Thunberg's involvement in anti-Israel protests.

Thunberg, 21, was arrested on September 4 during a protest led by Students Against the Occupation, a group calling on Copenhagen University to sever ties with Israel, including those related to climate change collaborations. Thunberg, is accused of prioritising anti-Israel sentiment over her environmental advocacy, despite Israel’s notable efforts in climate action.

Greta’s hatred of Israel eclipses her love for environment

Liora Rez did not hold back in criticising, stating, "Sadly, Greta’s hatred of the world’s only Jewish nation eclipses her love of the environment. Despite Israel being a global leader in tackling climate disasters and aiding in crises worldwide, Greta sides with their homicidal terrorist enemies."
