United States President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the White House today i.e. on Thursday. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and his US counterpart Jake Sullivan were also there to attend the intimate dinner gathering.

As India is known for its culture and tradition, PM Modi attended the gathering with lots of gifts and presents for Joe Biden and the First Lady, emphasising the art and craft, and uniqueness of the country as a gesture of respect.

PM Modi’s gifts to Bidens

As the official gifts, PM Modi has presented a handcrafted sandalwood box to the US President, and a green diamond to First Lady Jill Biden. The special sandalwood box was designed and created by a master craftsman from Rajasthan’s Jaipur.

It has sophisticated carved flora and fauna patterns on the box, highlighting the use of sandalwood sourced from Mysore in Karnataka. The sandalwood box contains a silver idol of Lord Ganesha and a diya (oil lamp).

Taking notes from the beautiful present to Jill Biden, the gift is a lab-grown 7.5-carat green diamond. It is just not exquisite but also reflects the chemical and optical properties of the earth-mined diamonds. This unique diamond is also eco-friendly, as it was crafted using sustainable resources like solar and wind power.

PM Modi also gifted the US President a copy of the first edition print of the book – ‘The Ten Principal Upanishads.’

What Bidens gifted PM Modi?

As a token of respect, the prime minister received an antique, handmade American book gallery from the Biden family. Moreover, they also gifted the PM a vintage American camera, a hard-cover book of American wildlife photography and a signed first-edition copy of a famous American poet’s ‘Collected Poems of Robert Frost.’

According to the officials, PM Modi has reached Washington today after leading a grand, successful record-setting yoga session at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Also, he held meetings with several CEOs, intellectuals and experts.

The prime minister’s tour will strengthen Indo-US relations and marking as one of the closest allies. He is also the third Indian to be invited for a state visit.
