From Gujarat to Space: Family Behind Sunita Williams’ Stellar Journey

Sunita Williams Family : NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore returned to Earth on Wednesday after staying on the International Space Station (ISS) for 9 months. The pair arrived at the ISS in June 2024 for just 8 days. Let's know about Sunita Williams' family.

Sunita Williams father hails from Gujarat and he also completed his graduation in Gujarat University. After completing his graduation, he moved to U.S and completed his internship in medicine. Her father worked in various hospitals across America and many research centers. 

When Pandya arrived in the US in 1957, he met Slovenian-American Ursuline Bonnie Jalokar and the two married shortly after. Last month, Jalokar spoke publicly about her daughter's long stay on the ISS. In an interview, she explained how Sunita and her fellow astronauts feel privileged to go on such a long mission.

He said- She does what she loves to do and they feel honored to be able to go on such a long mission. They feel great about it. She is doing what she loves. So how can I be sad about it. I am happy for her.

Sunita Williams's husband
Sunita Williams is married to Michael J. Williams, a federal marshal in Texas. Sunita and her husband used to fly helicopters before the beginning of their respective careers. They are married for last 20 years with no children. During one of the interviews, Sunita Williams shared that Sunita's happy place is space.
