In a horrific incident on Tuesday night, an explosion occurred on a natural gas pipeline operated by DCP Midstream near the Texas-Oklahoma border. The flames soared over 500 feet into the sky, local media reported.

The Booker Fire Department, responding to the situation, reported that crews were stationed at a "safe distance" until the gas could be turned off, according to Reuters. Multiple agencies rushed to the spot and were involved in managing the aftermath of the explosion, with technicians maintaining a cautious distance.

Video goes viral

Videos captured at the scene went viral across social media which depicts the intense flames reaching high into the sky, seemingly torching nearby electrical cables. The incident took place around 9:15 PM local time near a road intersection about a mile from the state line in Beaver County, Oklahoma, between Darrouzett and Logan.

No injuries reported

Despite the magnitude of the explosion and the towering flames, there have been no reported injuries, and no health threats to neighboring residences have been identified. Phillips 66, a company involved in the incident, stated that they had shut down the affected section of the pipeline and made necessary regulatory notifications.

The cause of the explosion remains unknown, and Phillips 66 emphasized that their first priority is ensuring the safety and health of workers, emergency responders, and the surrounding community.

Reacting to the incident, locals took to social media to share their experiences. The Elmwood Fire Department's post on social media prompted responses from individuals who could witness the massive blaze from miles away.

"Crews from several departments are staged at a safe distance until the gas can be turned off," mentioned the Booker Fire Department in one of the videos. Residents, commenting on social media, confirmed the visibility of the flames even from a distance of 36 miles.

The incident adds to a series of gas pipeline explosions witnessed in various U.S. states in recent years. Last year in July, a gas line near Strasburg, western Virginia, exploded along I-81, causing a brief shutdown of the highway and the pipeline before the fire was successfully suppressed.
