Islamabad High Court on Tuesday has suspended Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan‘s conviction and three-year sentence in the Toshakhana corruption case.

The much-anticipated reserved verdict has come as a relief to Imran Khan after the announcement was made by a division bench comprising Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.

According to the information, Islamabad High Court on Monday, reserved the verdict on Khan’s plea challenging his conviction in the Toshakhana corruption case. Notably, he was found convicted and sentenced for three years jail on August 5, in unlawfully selling the states gifts acquired by him and his family during his tenure from 2018-2022.

In addition to this, Khan has been barred for contesting the upcoming elections in Pakistan.

Notably, PTI Chairman was arrested from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore soon after being convicted in the Toshakhana case. The court also imposed a fine of Pakistani Rupees (PKR) 100,000 on Imran Khan, according to media sources. He has expressed his disappointment over being in jail and said that he doesn’t want to stay there, Pakistan-based Geo News reported.
