In the ongoing saga of mysterious monoliths captivating the global imagination, a new enigma has emerged on a remote hill in the Hay-on-Wye region of Wales, with a massive 10-foot-long structure catching the attention of local resident Richard Haynes over the weekend.
Describing the encounter, Haynes shared, "I went off towards Hay Bluff where the trig point is, and I looked over to my right. I thought it looked a bit bizarre and might be a scientific media research thing collecting rainwater." However, upon closer inspection, he realized the structure was too tall and peculiar for such a mundane explanation. "Then I went up to it, and it was about 10-foot-tall, at least triangular and definitely stainless steel. It was hollow and, I imagine, pretty light. Light enough for two people to carry it up and plant it in the ground," he added.
Richard, a regular runner on the route, emphasized that he had never seen the monolith before, and even his friend, who visited the location just two weeks prior, confirmed its absence at that time.
This latest appearance follows a trend of similar sightings in both the United States and the United Kingdom in recent years. Notably, 2020 saw numerous reports of monolith sightings across Europe, primarily in remote locations. Locations such as Compton Beach on the Isle of Wight and the Merry Maidens stone circle in Cornwall garnered significant attention on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
Notably, the monolith phenomenon is not limited to Europe, as evidenced by a 2021 occurrence in Mumbai, Maharashtra, where a monolith mysteriously appeared in a garden.
