Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of SpaceX and Tesla and known for his business acumen and hard calls globally, now has a significant crisis on his hands. Doubts are surfacing regarding him holding the leadership position of the US government's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and it is said that he may soon relinquish the position. Musk implied in a recent interview that he is "tired now" of reducing government expenditure, and there has been

speculation that he might quit his job

President Donald Trump appointed Elon Musk as a special adviser to lead the DOGE, where he was tasked with the responsibility of reducing government expenditure. Up to 95,000 government workers lost their jobs as a result of his policies," he stated. Yet Musk minimized the effect of the layoffs and said that it was needed to build a stronger government. His proposals were intended to cut government expenses by $1 trillion, capping the total federal budget at dollar 6 trillion.

Musk plagued by crises

But now Musk himself is being encircled by several crises. The shares of Tesla have come down tremendously in recent times. The shares of the company dropped over 5% on Monday, with investors being worried. Other than this, there are protests against Electric Vehicles (EVs) all over the country. Musk spoke about the concern of these protests and the violence against Tesla. Just a while ago, he had also mentioned that sometimes seeing these incidents being telecast on TV seems like the last time ever.

Increased workload

While speaking to his Austin employees, Musk conceded that he was "overworked". "I have approximately 17 jobs, and I am extremely fatigued," he said but promised that Tesla and his other ventures have a great future and they are going to do things that no one has ever thought of.

Democrats are questioning

Democrats always question Musk as the leader of DOGE. His extreme moves have been extensively criticized, particularly regarding cutting jobs. Musk also justified the reduction in government expenses, stating that they were much-needed reforms and did not cut any significant government service. Having said I am done, it will be fascinating to observe if he will actually resign or shift his strategies.

The White House and President Donald Trump have not reacted to the statements of Musk so far. But if Musk steps down as the head of DOGE, it will be a significant shift for the US government and policies of the administration. Meanwhile, nobody knows what will happen to his business empire. In such a scenario, it will be interesting to watch what action they take in the next few days.
