The Harris campaign did not hold back in their critique of Musk and Trump. In a statement responding to the interview, they labeled the event as "whatever that was," and condemned Trump’s agenda as "extremist and dangerous." The statement read, "Donald Trump's extremism and dangerous Project 2025 agenda is a feature, not a glitch, of his campaign, which was on full display for those unlucky enough to listen in tonight during whatever that was on X.com."

In response to the Musk-Trump conversation, the Harris campaign sent out fundraiser emails urging supporters to "chip in $25 now." They accused Musk of trying to seize control of the democracy by providing Trump a platform to spread his "unhinged and hateful agenda."

"It’s not enough that Musk has pledged to donate millions of dollars to help reelect Trump," the Harris-Walz campaign wrote. "He’s using his purchased platform — one of the largest social media sites in the world — to spread Trump’s unhinged and hateful agenda to millions of users."

Trump says Kamala is 'third-rate phoney candidate'

During his conversation with Musk, Trump launched a vehement attack on Harris, calling her a "third-rate phoney candidate" and "more incompetent" than President Joe Biden. "She's incompetent, and he (Biden) is incompetent. And frankly, I think that she's more incompetent than he is, and that's saying something because he's not too good," Trump asserted. He also claimed that Harris would never agree to an interview with Musk, stating that only he could have accomplished it.
