In the deadliest tremors to hit the earthquake-prone nation in years, powerful earthquakes in Afghanistan have killed more than 2,000 people and injured more than 9,000, according to the Taliban government on Sunday.

When isolated areas are affected, death rates frequently increase, and decades of war have destroyed infrastructure, making relief and rescue activities challenging.
In the past, Afghanistan’s mountainous surroundings have been subjected to numerous strong earthquakes in the untamed Hindu Kush region that borders Pakistan.

The death toll rises beyond

According to the Taliban administration on Sunday, massive earthquakes in Afghanistan have killed more than 2,000 people and injured more than 9,000—the country’s biggest tremor in years.

In the past, Afghanistan’s mountainous surroundings have been subjected to numerous strong earthquakes in the untamed Hindu Kush region that borders Pakistan. When remote areas are hit, death rates usually rise, and because infrastructure has been devastated by decades of war, relief and rescue efforts are difficult.

Afghanistani cricketer Rashid Khan, who is currently in India for the Cricket World Cup 2023, also tweeted about the earthquake, showing his support for the people of his country. He also declared that he is his CWC, donating match fees to aid the families of the fallen.
