New Delhi: In a heated televised debate on CNN, former US President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden clashed over their foreign policies, particularly regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Israel-Hamas war. Trump, the Republican challenger in the upcoming US presidential election, criticized Bidens administration for what he termed as an embarrassing withdrawal from Afghanistan, which he claimed emboldened Russian President Vladimir Putin to initiate the war against Ukraine.Donald Trump criticismTrump argued that the withdrawal from Afghanistan demonstrated significant incompetence, prompting Putin to act. “He was so bad with Afghanistan, it was so embarrassing...when Putin watched that so much incompetency...when Putin says that he said I think we are gonna go in,” Trump stated. He further asserted that neither the Russia-Ukraine war nor the Israel-Hamas conflict would have occurred if he had been in office. “He [Putin] would have never invaded Ukraine, never, just like Israel would never have been invaded by Hamas, because Iran was broke with me. I would not let anybody do business with Iran...thats why you had no terror at all during my administration, the whole world is blowing under him (Biden),” Trump added.Joe Bidens defensePresident Biden defended his administrations support for Ukraine, emphasizing the significant losses Russia has incurred. “This guy [Trump] has told Putin, do whatever you want...Putin said he would take Kyiv in five days because it was part of the old Soviet Union...he could not get it done, they have lost thousands and thousands of troops,” Biden remarked. He labeled Putin a “war criminal” and warned that Russias capture of Ukraine could lead to further conflicts in Europe.Different stance on foreign policiesThe debate highlighted the differences between the two candidates foreign policies, with Trump promising a tougher stance that he claims would prevent conflicts and Biden emphasizing the current administrations efforts to support Ukraine and counter Russian aggression.
