Yunus Returns from China with Newfound Swagger, Now Sees Himself as Global Expert - Claims Trump Even Takes His Advice!

Big news related to former US President Donald Trump has come out. Bangladesh Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus appealed to Trump to ban tariffs (fees) for 90 days. Trump accepted this request. However, the interesting thing is that Trump had already announced tariff ban on all countries.  He feels that the success of meeting PM Modi amidst the growing tension with India after his China visit has strengthened his global image a lot. This is the reason why he is now behaving as if he is an old friend of Donald Trump. On his request, Trump has immediately postponed the tariff imposed on Bangladesh for 90 days.

International News:Trump has lashed out at Bangladesh on several occasions in the past. He has also given PM Modi a free hand in the Bangladesh case. During his election campaign too, Trump had raised the issue of atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh, but despite this, Mohammad Yunus feels that Trump deferred the tariff for 90 days on his request. Mohammad Yunus may be praised, but the reality is that on April 9, 2025, US President Donald Trump announced that he is stopping the new tariffs imposed on most countries for 90 days. Under this decision, a basic tariff of 10% will remain applicable on all countries, but the high reciprocal tariff has been temporarily suspended.

Trump also made it clear that this exemption will not apply to China. It will have to pay 125% tariff with immediate effect. Trump said that this step was taken because more than 75 countries have contacted the US for trade talks. After this announcement, a sharp jump was seen in the US stock market. This policy is being considered a step towards reducing tensions in global trade. However, Mohammad Yunus is busy looting a different kind of praise.

Yunus had raised controversy

Mohammad Yunus recently described India's North-East as "landlocked" in China and called Bangladesh the "guardian" of maritime access for India and appealed to China for economic expansion. This statement raised controversy in India, as it raises concerns about the strategic sensitivity of the North-East and the security of the "Chicken's Neck" corridor. When the matter escalated, Yunus requested a meeting with PM Modi during the BIMSTEC Summit in Thailand for damage control.
