US President Donald Trump on Thursday claimed that he has a very good relationship" with India. He, however, added that the sole issue he has with the nation is that it is "one of the highest tariffing countries in the world."I have a very good relationship with India, but the only issue I have with India is they're one of the highest tariffing countries in the world.

Highest tariffing countries in the world

I believe they're probably going to be lowering those tariffs tremendously, but on April 2, we're going to be imposing on them the same kind of tariffs that they impose upon us," Trump told Breitbart News, a US news, opinion, and commentary website. Trump referred to the India-Middle East-Europe-Economic Corridor as a squad of great nations uniting, pushing back against other nations that try to hurt us on trade. We have a strong team of partners in trade," Trump stated."Once more, we can't let those partners treat us poorly, yet, we do better in lots of ways quite frankly with our enemies than we do with our allies, the Republican party leader added.

Speech in the White House

"Those that would not be as welcoming to us in some instances treat us better than those that are supposed to be welcoming, such as the European Union, that treats us miserably on trade. India and everyone would consider them an ally," the US president stated.Trump's tit-for-tat tariffs on IndiaOn March 5, Trump had condemned the heavy tariffs levied by India and other nations.Trump made these statements in a speech to the Joint Session of the Congress on Tuesday. It was his first speech of his second term in the White House.

Under the Trump administration

If you don't make your product in America, though, under the Trump administration, you're going to pay a tariff and in some instances, a pretty big one quoted Trump as saying."Other nations have been tariffing us for many decades and now we have to begin doing it to them. On average, the European Union, China, Brazil, India, Mexico and Canada — have you ever heard of these? And there are many, many other nations that charge us much, much higher tariffs than we charge them," Trump declared. "It's very unfair. India imposes auto tariffs of more than 100 per cent on us," he added.
