Deadly tornadoes leave trail of destruction in parts of US; 2 children among 15 killed after severe weather

The threat of storm still persists in many places. Although the threat in Texas has now subsided, the death toll may increase as the condition of many of the injured is said to be critical.

Powerful tornadoes have caused major damage in the American states of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. At least 15 people, including two children, have died due to the tornado, while many people have been injured. The tornado also damaged the stand built for trucks where dozens of people had come to seek shelter. After severe weather conditions across the region overnight, emergency services teams rushed to help people in severely affected areas. Rescue efforts were ongoing and hundreds of thousands of customers were without power after the storms struck the Southern Plains region beginning late Saturday.

Several injured due to tornado 

Officials said that many people were injured due to the tornado. In Texas, the Cook County sheriff said two children, ages 2 and 5, were among the seven killed. Due to the tornado, there is power outage in Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas since morning. About 4 lakh people remained without electricity in these provinces.

The Meteorological Department had already issued a warning regarding Tornado for the Great Plains region of USA. The threat of storm still persists in many places. Earlier in the month of April also a powerful tornado had hit USA. Even at that time, large scale damage was seen in many American states. Traffic was also affected due to the tornado and many people were reported injured. Many houses were also damaged due to the tornado. The houses collapsed like a deck of cards.
