A shocking incident unfolded at El Camino Real, California, where surveillance footage captured over 20 suspects breaking into Pune-based PNG Jewellers in broad daylight on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. The brazen robbery has left the local community stunned.
The CCTV footage revealed that the robbery occurred just before 12:30 p.m. on that day. Thieves armed with hammers and tools shattered display cases, making off with valuable jewelry. The video shows over a dozen suspects, dressed in black, storming into PNG Jewellers at 791 E. El Camino Real. They used their tools to break glass counters, looting the store in a matter of minutes.
The footage captured the chaos inside PNG Jewellers, with suspects methodically smashing display cases and grabbing the valuables. According to reports, the robbery took place at the Hacienda Shopping Center on E. El Camino Real around 1:30 p.m. The suspects quickly escaped in multiple vehicles before the police could arrive.
The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety responded to the robbery report at 1:27 p.m. According to a press release, DPS officers located two suspect vehicles heading north on U.S. Highway 101. During the pursuit, stolen jewelry was discarded from one vehicle, which was later abandoned near Whipple Avenue in Redwood City. Five suspects fled into an industrial area and were subsequently apprehended near San Carlos.
This incident marks the second robbery targeting an Indian jewelry store in the past two weeks, following a similar heist at Bhindi Jewelers in Newark. The back-to-back robberies have raised concerns within the Indian business community and prompted calls for increased security measures.
