A tragic incident has been reported by the media sources that five asylum seekers died while traveling from France to Britain in an overcrowded small boat. This has come just hours after the UK government approved a bill to deport some asylum seekers to Rwanda.

According to the sources, the boat carrying 112 people set out from Wimereux, about 32km southwest of the French port of Calais, to cross one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. However, rescuers picked up 49 people and four were taken to hospital, but others stayed on the boat and continued their journey to Britain.

As per reports, the five people included a seven-year-old girl, a woman and three men. One of the officials informed that incident happened due to failure of the engine. The engine of the boat stopped when it was just a few hundred meters away from the shore and several people fell off the water.

Reportedly, over 6,000 people have arrived in Britain through small overloaded boats, this year.

Crossing the English Channel, especially in small boats, can be incredibly dangerous, and it underscores the desperate situations that many asylum seekers find themselves in. It's a reminder of the urgent need for safer and more humane pathways for people seeking refuge.

Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, on Tuesday in a strong message, announced that there will now, be no delay in the flights to Rwanda and has promised to start sending asylum seekers there within 10 to 12 weeks, according to sources.

The UK Parliament on Monday passed the contentious bill that allows the government to send asylum seekers to Rwanda for their claims to be considered by the East African nation.
