Built on 27 acres of land, the much-awaited BAPS Temple by Swaminarayan Sanstha is all set to be inaugurated today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi later today. It is the first stone Hindu temple in the UAE and the largest in West Asia.

The inauguration is scheduled for Wednesday evening, and the priests are in the midst of their ceremonies.

Currently on a formal visit to the United Arab Emirates from February 13–14, Prime Minister Modi will today inaugurate the BAPS Hindu Temple.

President Al Nahyan of the UAE greeted PM Modi as soon as he arrived at the airport. The two leaders gave each other hugs and handshakes.

He expressed his gratitude to UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the BAPS Hindu Temple, stating that it is a symbol of his respect and love for India.

In expressing appreciation for the Abu Dhabi BAPS Hindu Mandir, PM Modi said that this couldn't have been possible without his love and support.

"I consider the construction of BAPS temple here as a reflection of your love for India and your vision for the bright future of UAE. This couldn't have been possible without your support. During our first meeting, I had just put up a simple request for you to look into it and you took a prompt decision, asking me to 'Put your finger on any piece of land, you will get it'. Perhaps, this level of love and trust showcases the unique relationship," PM Modi said.

It is worth to be noted that the proposal of the Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi came during the PM Narendra Modi’s first visit to the UAE in 2015 after which the government allocated land for the BAPS temple. PM Modi called this a ‘landmark’ move and thanked the leadership of UAE on behalf of 130 crore Indians.
