As India is all set to witness a historic moment when Chandrayaan-3 will touchdown on the lunar surface today as per plan, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has said that it is ready to initiate the Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS) for Chandrayaan-3’s lander Vikram.

The ISRO said that it is awaiting the arrival of the lander at the designated point at around 05.44 pm on Wednesday (August 23).

Soon after the lander module arrives at the designated point, the ALS command will be sent to it. Then, the throttleable engines of the lander module will be activated for the powered descent.

ISRO is all set to initiate ALS

Taking it to X (formerly known as Twitter), ISRO wrote, “All set to initiate the Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS). Awaiting the arrival of the Lander Module (LM) at the designated point, around 17:44 Hrs. IST. Upon receiving the ALS command, the LM activates the throttleable engines for powered descent.”

Meanwhile, the mission operations team will constantly confirm the sequential execution of commands, said the national space agency.

The live telecast of operations at Mission Operations Complex (MOX) begins at 5.20 pm, it added.

Moreover, the union minister of Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh has shared a timeline of the Chandrayaan-3 since it started its journey to the moon through his tweet.
