New Delhi: Newly surfaced footage has captured the horrific moment when Israeli soldiers allegedly assaulted a Palestinian hostage at the Sde Teiman torture camp. The victim, who has not been identified, sustained severe injuries including a torn rectum, broken ribs, and ruptured bowels, and has since been hospitalized.

Confirmation of Hamas leader's death

This distressing incident follows a tumultuous period marked by significant events involving key Hamas figures. On Thursday, the Israeli military confirmed the death of Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas' military wing, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza last month. This announcement came shortly after the assassination of Hamas' political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran.

What happened on July 13?

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported that Deif was neutralized during a targeted attack on Khan Yunis on July 13. Initially, Hamas had denied Deif's death, claiming that 100 others perished in the assault. "The IDF announces that on July 13th, 2024, IDF fighter jets struck in the area of Khan Yunis, and following an intelligence assessment, it can be confirmed that Mohammed Deif was eliminated in the strike," the military statement read.

Iran raised red flag over Jamkaran Mosque

In response to these assassinations, Iran raised a 'red flag' over the Jamkaran Mosque in Qom, symbolizing vengeance, following the alleged killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in an Israeli airstrike. The red flag, traditionally raised during Muharram to signify the blood of martyrs, underscores Iran's vow for revenge. This act follows images and videos showing Haniyeh meeting Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, just before his assassination.

The emergence of the assault footage and the assassinations of key Hamas leaders have heightened tensions in the region. The international community is closely watching as these events unfold, calling for justice and accountability for the actions committed.
