New Delhi: A devastating plane crash occurred in Brazil's São Paulo, on Friday, involving Voepass Flight 2283. The aircraft, an ATR-72 twin-turboprop, was en route from Cascavel to São Paulo. The flight, which had 58 passengers and four crew members onboard, took off from Cascavel at 11:50 AM local time and was expected to land in São Paulo at 1:40 PM. The plane tragically crashed into a residential area near Vinhedo.

Authorities are still assessing the situation on the ground, with no confirmation yet on casualties among residents."

Presidential reaction

Brazilian television network GloboNews broadcast footage of the crash site, showing a large fire and smoke emerging from the wreckage amidst a residential area. Additional images depicted the aircraft's dramatic descent and impact.

In response to the tragedy, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva observed a minute of silence at an event in southern Brazil, honoring the victims of the crash.
