A strange incident has been reported where, a Delta airlines flight from the United States to Spain was enforced to make a U-turn after a passenger suffered diarrhoea.
According to the sources, the incident happened in Friday night when flight turned around after just two hours into its journey from Atlanta, US to Barcelona, Spain. A snippet from the viral conversation between a pilot and air traffic control was surfaced on Twitter, which seemed to confirm that cause of the U-turn was not a technical snag but rather a medical issue.
Pilot can be heard telling the air traffic control, “This is a biohazard issue. We’ve had a passenger who’s had diarrhoea all the way through the airplane, so they want us to come back to Atlanta.”
Delta airlines also confirmed that the diversion was done due to medical emergency, but refused to make any kind of elaboration on this.
Sources have also stated that passengers and staff were moved to another flight after returning to Atlanta. The following day, eight hours after their initial anticipated arrival time, they arrived in Barcelona. Flight data indicates that the afflicted Airbus A350 aircraft was afterwards utilised for another flight, indicating that cleaning crews were able to washing it down.
