Hurricane Idalia made its landfall on the west coast of Florida as a Category 3 storm on Wednesday. President Biden while addressing the White House said that he had spoken with the governors of all potentially affected states and reassured them that the federal government would provide any assistance needed.

While speaking on the issue of Hurricane Idalia Biden was questioned about his personal travel schedule for the Labor Day weekend and his scheduled participation in the Group of 20 leaders summit in India to which Biden said, “Well I may, I just don’t know yet.”

Biden’s view on climate crisis

Addressing the White House on the impact of climate change which is a serious crisis we cannot deny anymore. The back-to-back challenges of the fires burning down historic towns, floods, and hurricanes that are washing away shores have all posed several damages to the country.

“I don’t think anybody can deny the impact of the climate crisis anymore,” Biden told reporters at the White House. “Just look around. Historic floods. I mean, historic floods. More intense droughts, extreme heat, and significant wildfires have caused significant damage.”

Biden has made combating climate change a key goal of his presidency, setting a target of halving U.S. emissions by 2030 from 2005 levels, and enacting hundreds of billions of dollars in tax credits to promote electric vehicles.
