After yesterday’s deadly Gaza hospital attack that killed 500 people so far, Palestinian security forces in Ramallah fired tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the protesters throwing rocks and chatting against President Mahmoud Abbas as people took over streets to express their anger. Meanwhile, due to this attack, US President Joe Biden has also received a major bombshell from the Arabs.

Deadliest attack on Gaza hospital, kills 500

Notably, this airstrike on Gaza’s Al-Ahli al-Arabi hospital, which Palestinians blamed on Israel, was the deadliest single incident in Gaza since Israel launched a campaign in retaliation for a deadly Hamas gun rampage through Israeli communities.

However, the Israeli army has refused to take responsibility for the strike, blaming it on a failed Palestinian militant rocket launch. The strike drew condemnation from the West and the Arab world, and protests were staged at Israel’s embassies in Turkey and Jordan and near the US embassy in Lebanon.

Biden’s meeting cancelled after Gaza hospital attack

Meanwhile, Joe Biden is set to arrive in Tel Aviv today. Amid this Gaza hospital attack, his visit to Jordan has also been cancelled.

Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi announced that Biden‘s summit in Amman scheduled to take place on Wednesday with Jordan’s King Abdullah, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sissi and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has been cancelled.

In the West Bank, where Abbas was returning on Tuesday after cancelling a planned meeting in Jordan with President Joe Biden, hundreds of demonstrators marched in Ramallah’s central Manara Square, with some chanting in support of Hamas militant leaders.

How are Arabs reacting to this?

According to Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh who is widely considered to be the faction’s overall leader, in a surprising move, blamed the US as responsible for the attack stressing that Washington gave Israel the “cover for its aggression.”

“The hospital massacre confirms the enemy’s brutality and the extent of his feeling of defeat,” Haniyeh said in a televised address.

He called upon all the Palestinian people “to get out and confront the occupation and the settlers” and for all Arabs and Muslims to stage protests against Israel.

Apart from Hamas, even Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey also accused Israel of bombing the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City.

Netanyahu refutes these claims

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held the “barbaric terrorists in Gaza” responsible for the deaths.

“So the whole world knows: The barbaric terrorists in Gaza are the ones who attacked the Gaza hospital, not the IDF (Israel Defence Forces),” Netanyahu said in a statement.

“Those who cruelly murdered our children, murder their children as well,” he stressed.
