US President Joe Biden who is facing significant criticism for his advanced age, introduced Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine as Russian President Vladimir Putin at a NATO event on Thursday. Later, at a solo press conference in Washington, Biden confused the name of his vice president, Kamala Harris, with that of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

President Biden’s two notable gaffes

Adding to the series of public speaking errors President Biden, first, mistakenly referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as "Putin," which drew attention given the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Additionally, Biden accidentally called Vice President Kamala Harris "President Trump."

While speaking at the event, drawing gulp of air from those in the room, Biden said, “And now I want to hand it over to the president of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination, ladies and gentlemen, President Putin.” And soon after a pause of two seconds, he immediately corrected himself and said, "Going to beat President Putin, President Zelensky. I am so focused on beating Putin."

Responding promptly to this, Zelensky responded to Biden's comments with "I am better (than Putin)," to which Biden replied "You are a hell of a lot better," as some in the room laughed before Zelensky began his address.

Later at a solo press conference, Biden was repeatedly asked about the concerns over his age on his candidacy. He responded with "I've gotta finish the job."

In another embarrassing gaffe, he mistakenly referred to his Vice-President Kamala Harris as "Vice-President Trump".
While responding to a question, he said, "Wouldn’t have picked vice-president Trump to be vice-president if I didn’t think she was not qualified to be president."

Meanwhile, it is important to note that Biden's has been struggling since he has started campaigning for the re-election, following his debate performance against his opponent, Donald Trump, who is 78 years old. However, he reiterated at the event that he will be ‘running this race to end,’ despite private calls from Democrats to drop out. He said that he party need to work collectively to defeat the former President Donald Trump in the upcoming elections.
