A high-level diplomatic meeting is set to take place between US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in the San Francisco Bay Area on Wednesday, November 15, as per media reports.

The purpose of this meeting is to test whether the two world leaders can affect the downward spiral in relations between the two countries at a time when the world is experiencing turbulent times. The White House views this meeting as a positive inclination in the bilateral relationship between Washington and Beijing, media reports suggest.

However, reports also suggest that though the meeting between Biden and Jinping is a positive sign in the relationship between the US and China, the talks might not soften the world's most consequential bilateral relationship.

Meanwhile, the US officials also stressed that the leaders are hoping to develop a framework to manage a successful competitive relationship between the two global powers. They also hope to clear out the misconceptions, as per media reports.

Apart from this, the officials have also said that there are no unrealistic exceptions from Biden’s aides as they prepare for this summit.

With the war intensifying in the Middle East and Ukraine, President Biden is eager to prevent another major catastrophe from exploding under his watch. Biden also advocates the restoration of stability to the Washington-Beijing relationship as one of his top foreign policies, even as tension arises.
