New Delhi: Former U.S. President Barack Obama recently marked the tenth anniversary of his famous tan suit moment, which had sparked a significant political controversy. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Obama humorously commemorated the event by praising Vice President Kamala Harris, who recently donned a similar tan suit at the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

Obama shared a side-by-side comparison of himself and Harris wearing the tan suits, captioning the images with, “How it started. How it's going.” He added, “Ten years later, and it’s still a good look!” and included a link to a voter registration site, encouraging civic participation.

Harris, who recently secured the Democratic presidential nomination after Joe Biden stepped down, wore the tan suit during her appearance at the DNC. The choice of attire was seen by many as a subtle jab at the Republicans who had criticized Obama for wearing the same color during his presidency. The backlash against Obama at the time was severe, with critics claiming that the suit represented a “lack of seriousness.” However, the former president’s recent post shows that the controversy is now being remembered with humor and pride.

At the DNC, both Michelle and Barack Obama spoke highly of Harris, calling her the “most qualified candidate in history to become the president.” They praised her understanding of what makes America great and subtly critiqued former President Donald Trump’s tenure. The internet quickly reacted to Obama’s post, which garnered over 45 million views. While many praised the transformation and the fashion statement, some critics expressed their disapproval of Harris.
