Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has issued a stern warning about the growing use of "soft war" tactics by foreign adversaries aiming to destabilize the Islamic Republic. He asserted that while Iran has no concerns regarding military threats or defense challenges, external enemies continue to attempt psychological and ideological manipulation within the country.
According to a report during a recent address in Tehran, stated, “Today, we do not fear military threats or hard defense concerns. Islamic Iran possesses formidable capabilities to counter such dangers, ensuring the security of its people.” He further highlighted that the biggest threat Iran faces is the infiltration of ideas intended to create doubt and dissent within the foundations of the Islamic Revolution.
Khamenei pointed fingers at the United States and Israel, accusing them of using "soft war" strategies to manipulate public opinion, fuel internal divisions, and challenge the legitimacy of Iran’s Islamic governance. He emphasized that these tactics aim to erode national unity and weaken the ideological stronghold of the Iranian leadership.
While addressing the nation’s internal struggles, Khamenei acknowledged the economic hardships faced by Iranian citizens, stating that their grievances and expectations are "valid and justified." He attributed many of these difficulties to international sanctions, which have placed immense pressure on Iran’s economy.
The return of former U.S. President Donald Trump to the White House has led to the reinstatement of his "maximum pressure" policy on Iran. This approach, reminiscent of his first-term strategy, seeks to tighten economic restrictions and isolate Tehran from the global economy.
One of the key aspects of Washington’s renewed stance on Iran is its continued allegations that Tehran is developing nuclear weapons. The U.S. had unilaterally withdrawn from the 2015 nuclear deal, citing concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions. However, Tehran has consistently denied these accusations, maintaining that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes.
Despite Trump’s recent call for renewed negotiations with Iran, Khamenei dismissed the idea, asserting, “No problem can be solved by negotiating with the United States.” This firm stance underscores Iran’s continued resistance against American diplomatic overtures and economic pressures.
